It is not the typical flat crochet motif. It is basically an 8 petaled flower folded in half. This allows for more structure and a 3 dimensional look to the butterfly. Add them to blankets, pillows, baby booties or anything else you want.

Materials and tools that you needed for making butterfly application:
- Thin weight yarn of your choice (green, white, pink).
- Size 1,25 mm Crochet Hook.
- Scissors.
Use a smaller hook for a smaller application.
Basic Stitch Abbreviations:
Chain - ch.
Slip stitch - sl st.
Single crochet - sc.
Double crochet - dc.
Chain space - ch sp.
Pattern instructions:
1 step. Make ch 5 and 1 sl st in the first ch to join.
2 step. Make ch 3 and cluster *ch 2, 2 dc*. Repeat cluster ** 7 times yet. At the end of the row make ch 2, 1 dc and 1 sl st in 3rd ch. Finish.
3 step. Change color of yarn (white). Make 1 sl st in 2 ch space, ch 3, 2 dc, 3 ch and 3 dc in same 2 ch space. In each of next 2 ch spaces make cluster - 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc. At the end of the row make 1 sl st in 3rd ch.
4 step. Change color of yarn (pink). Insert the hook between the third and fourth dc of the previous row. Make 1 sl st with pink yarn, ch 1, 1 sc in same space. In 3 ch sp make cluster - 6 dc, 1 ch, 6 dc, 1 sc in next space between the third and fourth dc of the previous row. Repeat the cluster around. At the end of the row make 1 sl st in the top of the first sc.
5 step. Fold the part in half. Connect the two halves at the bottom.
6 step. Take green yarn. Make on the hook first ch.
7 step. Insert the hook into the base of the part (the junction of the two halves). Grab the thread and pull it through the part and loop on the hook.
8 step. Make similar loops to create a butterfly trunk.
9 step. Make tendrils. Make ch 7.
10 step. Skip first ch, in next ch make 2 sc, in each of next ch make sl st. At the end make 7 ch, skip first ch, in next ch make 2 sc, in each of next ch make sl st.
The 3 dimensional butterfly application is now ready!
